## What Happens Next

The invited user needs to sign up for ACSISS Adviser, verify their email, set up a password, and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).

💡 When added to an Adviser business account, there is no need for registration body verification, registration type selection, or GreenID verification.

Once logged in, the new user will have the role of "Adviser" and will not have any clients assigned initially.

The user can then follow the [++Connect a New Customer++](https://help.acsiss.com.au/adviser/connect-a-new-customer.md) article to proceed with setting up their connections.

## Managing Roles and Client Allocations

After the invited user has become an active user, a manager or administrator can change the adviser's role as required.

Clients can also be allocated to the new adviser at this stage.

## Adviser Role Definitions

An **Adviser** can invite clients to the platform, accept client accounts, and is responsible for viewing and managing only their own clients and client data. Advisers also have the ability to configure export locations to streamline their workflows.

A **Manager** has all the capabilities of an Adviser, with additional access to view all clients and client data within the company. Managers can reallocate clients to different advisers and have the authority to add and delete users (advisers) as needed.

An **Administrator** has all the same permissions as Advisers and Managers but also has control over the entire company's settings. They can make important changes that affect everyone in the company and ensure everything runs smoothly.

# CDR Bank Statements

![image-20241230-024410.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_e59003e6ccf0e67a2161bc1b6b40306440794961e2918c239dfe6853e4e7ea83/image-20241230-024410.png?cb=3fae1de60c736fabc69decd578f5e4b0)

This article describes the CDR Bank Statement feature in ACSISS Adviser, and which banks and account types are available.

## **What is CDR?**

The Consumer Data Right (CDR) is a Commonwealth government initiative that compels banks (and other institutions) to provide consumers with secure, complete, and accurate data access per strict guidelines. Under CDR regulations, banks must provide this data when a consumer (individual or business) instructs them to.

To learn more about CDR, please visit [++Homepage \| Consumer Data Right (cdr.gov.au)++](https://www.cdr.gov.au/).

## **What are CDR Bank Statements?**

CDR Bank Statements are statements generated from transaction data provided by the banks under the Consumer Data Right. In this way, CDR Bank Statements are an accurate, unaltered, digital version of the bank transactions. With their clients' permission, Advisers can generate CDR Bank Statements on demand and do not require access to online banking, or client passwords.

## **Are CDR Bank Statements the same as traditional Bank Statements?**

A CDR Bank Statement is generated using data provided by the banks under the Consumer Data Right (CDR) regulations. It is a listing of all the transactions made through an account during a nominated date range. Because CDR Bank Statements are created by a Trusted Adviser on demand, the CDR Bank Statement can be produced with the client's permission for whatever date range the Adviser wishes. So, while the bank might provide statements that cover each month (say from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the following), an adviser may choose to instead produce a statement for the calendar month, or even for the entire financial year. Either way, the transactions, and account details (name, address, etc.) on the CDR Bank Statement match those provided by the bank.

Occasionally, data provided by the bank may include small variations to that found on the traditional paper statements.

### Occasional Variances:

* Transactions may appear in a different order

* The running balance may not match

* Transactions are dated a day earlier or a day later

* Descriptions may look slightly different

## **Which banks or accounts can I get CDR Bank Statements from?**

CDR Bank Statements are available from the majority of [++Data Holders active in CDR++](https://www.cdr.gov.au/find-a-provider?providerType=Data%2520Holder&status=ACTIVE), for transactions accounts only. Credit, loan, and term deposit accounts are unavailable.

### Excluded Data Holders:

* Tyro

* PayPal

* Wise

* Unloan

## **Why can't I see my CDR Bank Statement?**

There are several reasons why you cannot produce a CDR Bank Statement:

1. The bank you are trying to download a statement for is excluded from CDR Bank Statements

2. The account type you are trying to download a statement for is excluded from CDR Bank Statements

3. The selected date range contains a non-balanced [Balancing transaction](https://help.acsiss.com.au/adviser/understanding-balancing-transactions-and-their-roo.md)

## **What file format is the CDR Bank Statement in?**

CDR Bank Statements are generated in PDF format. Transaction data can also be downloaded in CSV, QIF, and OFX formats.

In the **Operation** column, click the **check** button corresponding to the account you wish to access securely.

# Understanding Balancing Transactions and Their Root Causes

![image-20241230-024410.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_74405614b8e812e653cc5fadf1c3a2117dccb65a1b445c64cb9f67643a9276ab/image-20241230-024410.png?cb=3fae1de60c736fabc69decd578f5e4b0)

## What is a Balancing Transaction?

Our role is to ensure your data is accurate and not simply rely on the banks telling us it's accurate, we check it. We do this by verifying all bank accounts before sharing them with you.

However, occasionally the data provided by Banks does not reconcile. When this happens ACSISS creates a Balancing Transaction, which is an identifiable adjustment to tell you exactly when the bank data did not reconcile.

ACSISS inserts a balancing transaction to ensure the running balances are accurate and consistent.

## **Let's see how this works**

We receive the following data from a bank:

* Bank Balance on Monday $1,325

* Less: Purchase Computer ($550)

* Bank Balance on Tuesday $907

In this scenario, this account does not reconcile. There is a difference of $132. ACSISS inserts a balancing transaction:

* Bank Balance on Monday $1,325

* Less: Purchase Computer ($550)

* Add: ACSISS Balancing Transaction $132

* Bank Balance on Tuesday $907

The addition of the ACSISS Balancing Transaction of $132 results in the account reconciling with the last verified balance and current balance provided by the bank.

The user has precise information about when the account did not reconcile and by how much.

## **How do I Identify a Balancing Transaction?**

You can identify a Balancing Transaction by looking for "BALANCING TRANSACTION" in the transaction description.

## **How do I fix the Balancing Transaction?**

If you do not want to see the balancing transaction, you can choose to remove it from your accounting system.

## **Primary Causes of Balancing Transactions**

There are several reasons why balancing transactions occurs:

### **Post-dated Transactions**

This is the most common cause. A transaction dated in the future has been included in the current balance.

### **Incorrect Balances Provided by Banks**

**Example:** NAB Credit Cards report what you have left to spend as your balance but do not provide the credit limit. This omission makes it difficult to calculate the actual balance (which should be the current balance minus the credit limit).

## **Additional Causes**

Beyond the primary causes, there are other complications that can affect the accuracy of balances:

### **Inclusion of Pending Transactions**

**Issue:** Some banks include pending transactions in their reported balances, which can lead to discrepancies.

**Banks:** NAB, Westpac, and UBank

## **Balancing Transactions and Data Delays**

When ACSISS checks the balance reported by a bank against the sum of individual transactions plus the last verified balance, it aims to ensure they reconcile.

If a discrepancy is found, we wait and attempt to recollect the data to provide accurate and reconciled information.

We will recollect the data for up to six hours before inserting a balancing transaction. This may result in a delay in your data and will only affect the account(s) that have a balance discrepancy on the first collection attempt.

# Using Group Codes

The Adviser portal shows your Clients as defined by their MyData registrations, and clicking into the Clients will show you the bank accounts under that registration. We recognise that a business may use multiple MyData registrations to share their data, or multiple business may use one MyData registration to share their data. Group codes allow you to set a single reference code to clients OR bank accounts to make it easier to find the data you need.

**Apply a Group Code to a Client**

1. Click the eye icon next to the Client

![image-20250205-044208.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_c73b002f87339d1a63e7c58dac1dcaf11722e4684ba75bd06cfdaf63e120a4a6/image-20250205-044208.png?cb=00733eb54b79760116a6b68768078250)

# Where Your Client Data Is Stored and Handled: Key Facts for Tax Agents and Accountants

## Where Your Client Data Is Stored and Handled

*Last reviewed: 25th June 2026*

If you're a registered tax agent, BAS agent, or accountant using SISS Data Services on behalf of your clients, this page gives you the key facts to support your own due diligence obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and the TPB Code of Professional Conduct.

**This covers all data handled by SISS, not only Consumer Data Right (CDR) data.** Where data has moved outside CDR protections (for example, via the Trusted Adviser consent model), we've noted that below.

### Storage location

Data is stored on Microsoft Azure, with primary storage in Australia East (Sydney) and disaster recovery in Australia South East (Melbourne).

### CDR data leaving CDR protection

Data disclosed via the Trusted Adviser consent model is no longer covered by CDR Privacy Safeguards once disclosed. Where the receiving party is regulated under the Privacy Act 1988, that data is protected under the Australian Privacy Principles; please contact us for further detail on how this applies to your practice.

### Who can access your (client) data

Access is limited to authorised personnel. SISS do use overseas-based employees and contractors for development work. These contractors by default only have access to DevOps project environments, not to production systems or databases, and all development work uses synthetic data.

### Certifications

* CDR Accredited Data Recipient: ADRBNK000158

* ISO 27001:2022 certified (Compass Assurance Services, certificate 5325-2096-02, expiry October 2026)

### Retention and deletion

Under our data retention policy, CDR data is deleted once the underlying consent becomes invalid, in line with CDR Rules requirements. Data outside the CDR environment is retained for a rolling two-year period. Further information on retention is available on request.

### Questions

Contact our Compliance Officer at [privacy@siss.com.au](mailto:privacy@siss.com.au) for anything this page doesn't cover.

### I loaded my application into the BC Sandbox environment and want to migrate to Production

The same credentials for the ACSISS Setup must be used. The following bank account details in the Bank Card must be identical, in every instance,

1. The 'No.' field for the bank account

2. The BSB

3. The Account Number

4. The ACSISS Institution

The first time you register a Bank Account a form is generated which must be signed and sent to SISS for processing. If you wish to setup that account again in a second BC Environment, then the Register Bank Account function must still be performed, however rather than signing and returning to SISS a support ticket should be raised to SISS along with the new form.

The transactions ACSISS previously collected are still available to be collected in the Production environment, however if this is required you will need to trigger this download manually. Also consider the 'date range' you require as you do have the choice to download all available transactions, a specific date range or no transactions at all.

To download transactions, search for the page called "**ACSISS Bank Statements** " and open it. From the Actions menu select **Get ACSISS Bank Statement Lines** and complete the following screen.

1. Type the **start** and **end date** of the transactions you require (remember ACSISS will only have transactions from the date the Bank Approved the feed)

2. Select the required **Bank Account**

3. Click **OK** to import, at this point the app will start the download of transactions from the ACSISS server. Note this is web call which may take several seconds should you have thousands of transactions.

4. Repeat the above for each bank account you have

![manual import.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_47278022711eb2727492c63ff9a8bb91ab18c2d7f03b6e3e91133e7094ee7fd2/manual%20import.png?cb=14832abc9d797bddee8dc42aaca54e84)
manual transaction import

Transactions will only be available for download after the form has been processed and activated, this means the first time a bank account is setup SISS will seek approval from the Bank, and they will send transactions from the date of Banks' approval. For subsequent setups of the Bank Account, transactions will only be available for the business day AFTER SISS has processed the subsequent form. This means any transactions previously collected in the other instances are not available in the subsequent instance.

# 14. Update to new version of ACSISS Connect

This section provides instructions on upgrading to a new version of the ACSISS Connect app, also called an extension in Business Central.

Microsoft provides three methods to perform an upgrade

1. Via **Extension Management** within Business Central. This does not require access via the Admin Centre, but users may require specific permissions to install an extension.

2. Via **Dynamics 365 Business Central admin center**. This method is the quickest and simplest method but requires a user with administrator permissions to access the Business Central environments.

3. Via **Update Cadence** for an environment. This method is the most automated method; however, ACSISS Connect will only be updated with minor and/or major releases of Business Central

## Extension Management method, the steps are as follows

a) Open Business Central and then find and open the '**Extension Management**' page

b) Find and select the ***ACSISS Connect*** extension or tile

c) Go to the Manage **Menu** , and click on the ***Uninstall***option

![image-20240521-102553.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_409aaf80a7e4e62b3c267942fbf78e298d9cd5b304e2259f39e8d16b865f5025/image-20240521-102553.png?cb=6c7ca4eb6078c403fbdf7330647cc380)

d) The extension uninstallation screen will be displayed, and you can click the ***Uninstall***button.

Please note: ++DO NOT++ delete the extension data. This option is not enabled by default, so please leave it disabled.

![image-20240521-102844.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_0a510124d4217889c053be98a5ae9d76cba8b87e50633403f7b5424f62a4c0e0/image-20240521-102844.png?cb=1fb5f1b6716ea2ecd3c4e59cbfa7d857)

e) After installing the extension, return to the **Manage** menu and select the ***Extension Marketplace*** option. From the list of apps in the marketplace, search for ++ACSISS++ and then click on the ***Get Now*** button.
![image-20240521-103642.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_96b99fd835ec45278be060e83995b9a88e3dc585c4435e55fa7a0f6e1d4de1de/image-20240521-103642.png?cb=36265dc614887a69139c432b58c630f1)

f) Follow the process presented. This may require you to authenticate yourself as a user (Microsoft will be checking your permissions and which tenant is linked to your account). If you can access multiple environments, please select the same environment from which you just uninstalled the extension. After choosing the environment, it will take a few minutes to install.

*** ** * ** ***

## Admin Centre method

a) If logged into **Business Central** , click on the gears icon and select ***Admin Center***

![image-20240521-104256.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_4fe502523795b08df5c793861b49dd0c53493f3ac117f0d489e77b49115769b5/image-20240521-104256.png?cb=b72f98417f6429b1a287c4ec9171d44a)

b) From the list of environments, click on the **hyperlink** of the environment you wish to upgrade. Once the environment opens, click on the **Apps**menu item
![image-20240521-104938.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_f51ba2e17ff51c5a46fc10e969b80903c430888231b8d5208b94845ca943ab26/image-20240521-104938.png?cb=9b71be8129d41e04e001a2e886c80bff)

c) The manage apps page may take a few minutes to load as it checks for the latest versions of the installed apps. Once loaded, if an update is available, click on the ***Install update*** hyperlink for the ACSISS Connect line
![image-20240521-104401.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_ea6cec821ee171b0fe4de34ebac97fc6aec7ffe62cfa0857b0933c26bdc115c0/image-20240521-104401.png?cb=d6d76618c6066f4d86960b93edd4f5fe)

d) This will start the upgrade process, which may take a few minutes to complete. You can refresh this screen to ensure the app has been updated.

## Environment Update Cadence

This method is ideal for those who wish to have the ACSISS Connect app updated automatically; however, it does require someone with Administrator permissions to set this up.

a) Open the **Dynamics 365 Business Central admin center page** and click on the ***hyperlink*** of the environment to manage.
![image-20240523-233554.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_621f351f7eb90e4666f7bbc45048b7dc7cc6263134ea3856f59c37d6caa429cf/image-20240523-233554.png?cb=0066ba04378b778287663eede293083c)

b) Find the **Version Management** section and click on the Modify *hyperlink* under the **Apps Update Cadence** heading to view the settings
![image-20240523-233811.png](https://help.acsiss.com.au/__attachments/a_bdf465281ff034702fe274a254278b38a1d922eb3c45ca849b791b65e1827be8/image-20240523-233811.png?cb=c51452a943988871b4560a88709e6828)

c) Set the required cadence you desire for this environment and click save. Please read Microsoft [documentation](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/tenant-admin-center-manage-apps#update-installed-apps-with-environment-updates)to understand the impact of these settings. Also note that this setting affects all apps published via AppSource, including ACSISS Connect, but is not limited to our app.

## Pages and User Interface Changes

### 🖥️ All Screens

* If the user is not a member of the SISS DATA FEEDS Role, none of our API related code executes

* Graceful degradation in case of API errors

  * If errors occur, the user receives a more user-friendly message, rather than the system crashing.

  * The message has similar content, so we can still see the error message.

* Job queues should never receive error responses, so they shouldn't get disabled.

#### Bank Account List Page

* Action Added: "Get ACSISS Bank Transactions" is now available in the action menu and visible when any account has a SIS Account ID.

  * Selecting the action opens the SIS Bank Statements page, displaying all transactions for all accounts.

##### Bank Account Card Page

* Action Added: "Get ACSISS Bank Transactions" is now available in the action menu and visible when any account has an SIS Account ID.

  * Selecting the action opens the SIS Bank Statements page, displaying all transactions for the account being viewed.

* FlowFields: Calculated FlowFields for SIS data (Practice ID, Client ID, My Data User info) added. This is to reduce updates to the same field on the Bank Account Table and our SISS Bank Accounts table.

* Support Info: Enhanced support information section

  * CDR Support section is hidden if the bank feed is a Direct Feed.

* Transaction Field: Added "Last Transaction ID" text field with proper left alignment

#### Bank Feeds Setup Page

* Context-Aware Buttons: Visibility now based on credential status.

  * Button Logic:

# 2026/05/19 - Connect v1.1.6.13641.0

**Release Date:** 2026-05-19

**Version:** 1.6.13641.0

*** ** * ** ***

## Summary

This release introduces improvements to the Connect Bank wizard, streamlining the bank account connection process through reduced manual input steps and updated authentication. It also adds new administrator controls for how the Statement Ending Balance is populated on Bank Reconciliations.

*** ** * ** ***

### 🆕 New Features

#### **Connect Bank Wizard**

* The company ABN is now automatically sourced from Company Information and passed during the consent flow, removing the need for manual entry

* A default email address can be configured on the ACSISS Bank Feeds Setup page and is pre-populated in the Connect Bank wizard. The field is also populated automatically from previous bank connections

* Historical transaction data collected when connecting a new bank account is limited to 14 days

* Multi-factor authentication (MFA) app verification has been replaced with email one-time password (OTP) authentication. This applies to new customer sign-up, portal sign-in, and new bank account connections. No configuration is required

**Bank Feeds Setup**

* A new *Statement Ending Balance Option* field is available in the Options group on the ACSISS Bank Feeds Setup page. This controls how the Statement Ending Balance is populated when ACSISS creates a Bank Reconciliation. Available options:

  * *Leave Blank* --- field is left at zero for manual entry (default for new installs)

  * *Use Last Closing Balance* --- calculated as the prior closing balance plus imported transaction amounts

  * *Use ACSISS EOD Balance* --- set to the end-of-day balance reported by the bank (default for existing customers on upgrade)

**Upgrade Behaviour**

| Scenario | Result |
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|------------------------------------|
| Existing customer, Statement Ending Balance Option not previously changed | Migrated to Use ACSISS EOD Balance |
| Existing customer, Statement Ending Balance Option previously customised | Existing value preserved |
| New install | Defaults to Leave Blank |
| New company on existing multi-company tenant | Defaults to Leave Blank |

New error code added: ACSISS-0013 (Info) --- logged when the Statement Balance Option is set to Use ACSISS EOD Balance during upgrade.

*** ** * ** ***

# 2026/07/23 - Connect v1.7.13661.0.

**Release Date:** 2026-07-24

**Version:** 1.7.13661.0.

*** ** * ** ***

## Summary

This release makes connected bank-account matching substantially more reliable --- tolerating formatting differences and supporting masked credit-card numbers --- adds a new administrator control over currency-code updates during bank feed mapping, and fixes two issues where upgrade migrations or stale stored values could silently override what the customer saw or chose.

*** ** * ** ***

### Release Highlights

* **Map Connected Bank Accounts --- far more reliable account matching:** Connected bank accounts now match your Business Central bank accounts even when BSB or account numbers are formatted differently (dashes, spaces), and credit cards with masked numbers from the bank can now be matched safely on their last four digits.

* **New Currency Code Update Mode setting:** Administrators can now control whether mapping a bank feed writes the feed's currency code onto the bank account --- never, always, or only for foreign (non-local) currencies. Existing customers maintain their current behaviour; new installs default to updating only foreign currencies.

* **Statement Balance Option choice now preserved across upgrades:** Fixed an issue where every release upgrade could silently switch a customer's "Leave Blank" statement balance setting back to "Use ACSISS EOD Balance".

* **Accurate "Days to Expiry" figure:** The Map Connected Bank Account page now recalculates the consent days-to-expiry at display time, so it always matches the expiry date shown beside it.

*** ** * ** ***

### 🆕 New Features

#### **Currency Code Update Mode**

A new "Currency Code Update Mode" field is available in the Options group on the ACSISS Bank Feeds Setup page. It controls whether the Map Bank Feed action writes the feed's currency code onto the Business Central bank account.

* **Never Update** --- The bank account's Currency Code is never touched when mapping a feed.

* **Update All Currencies** --- The feed's currency code is written whenever the bank account's Currency Code is blank, and the currency exists in the Currencies list. This matches the behaviour of all prior releases and is what existing customers are migrated to.

* **Update Non-LCY Only** --- The currency code is written only when it differs from the company's local currency (LCY). Local-currency accounts keep a blank Currency Code, which is the Business Central convention. This is the default for new installs.

In every mode, an already-populated Currency Code is never overwritten. The comparison against the local currency is case-insensitive, and if the ACSISS Bank Feeds Setup or General Ledger Setup record cannot be read, the field is safely left untouched.

**Upgrade Behaviour**

| Scenario | Result |
|--------------------------------------------------------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| Existing customer upgrading to this release | **Update All Currencies** --- preserves the behaviour of prior releases |
| New install | Update Non-LCY Only |
| New company added to an existing multi-company tenant | Update Non-LCY Only |
| Any customer who later changes the setting, on subsequent upgrades | Unchanged --- the migration runs exactly once, so the customer's choice is preserved |

New error code added: `ACSISS-0014` (Info): Set Currency Code Update Mode to Update All Currencies during upgrade.

# 5. Importing Bank Transactions

The following import processes assume all the tasks in sections 1 to 4 of this document is complete.

There are two possible interactions for bank transaction collecting depending on whether bank statement processing has been enabled in the SAP business One database.

If bank statement processing has been enabled, then the bank feed will be found when a new bank statement summary is created. If bank statement processing has not been enabled, then the bank statement feed will be found in the process external bank statement menu.

Each of the above options are mutually exclusive, i.e., the process external bank statement bank feed function will be disabled if bank statement processing has been turned on.
